The Sunflower

What a day for this California sunflower. A cloudy day - the perfect sky to really make that yellow POP!

I want to give loving thanks to my great friend, Mike, who unassumingly helped hike, talk, drive, and see me through many tough months after my stroke. This photo was taken on one of our hikes in the local foothills.

Mike, I know I wasn't always easy to be around, but I'm so glad you were there. You were a REAL brother to me, in all the ways I needed most. Thanks for your friendship and everything you put into helping me and my partner. You were our rock. Your faith in me, and in us, never wavered. You are that sunflower!

You and Krista showed me what true support and friendship are: Kindness, not control. Patience, not pressure. Listening to understand, not "fish." Selflessness, not presumption. I won't ever forget your gift to me!   With love and gratitude,  Jim

Marshall Canyon

I started outside in Marshall Canyon. Mike Jacoob was the photographer. Here I captured him taking this picture.

New Beginnings

The New Beginnings began today, though they have persisted since November 21, 2016. That was when I had my stroke. Since that time I have come back strong! This is due to my family, and to Krista, who has stayed with me every step of the way. This Fathers Day, I went to Bolsa Chica, which enabled me to walk over three miles.

While at Bolsa Chica I took several photographs which I developed differently in Lightroom. Take a look at them.

There are four pictures. One converts, one is new, one instructs, and one is my "every step of the way" girl.

Friday, August 12, 2016

The Show has a Poster and an Opening Date: September 3rd rather than the 2nd.

Here's the poster for the new show, which is now entitled "Persons and Places." The opening will be on September 3rd, which is a Saturday, at 6:30 pm. ("First Friday" is now "First Saturday" so far as Art Walks are concerned.)

The title gives the theme explicitly: portraits of persons in distant places, together with commanding near-by places.

Some are from a recent trip to Nepal, but there will be at least one from South East Asia, and more than one from the Netherlands.
